Come join a roundtable discussion with RTM Representative Andrew Colabella and Westport teachers Stacy Fowle and Ashley Moran, along with Westport students, to find ways to reduce waste in our town and in your home.
Moderated by our special guest, Will Haskell, CT State Senator. Ms. Fowle and Ms. Moran have led the composting movement in the Westport Public lower schools with the inspiration of their students. Andrew Colabella was the RTM lead petitioner to ban single use plastic in Westport restaurants with the assistance of students who spoke at the hearing.

You’re invited to the Annual Wakeman Town Farm Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration on Friday, Dec. 6 from 4:30 p.m.-6 p.m.
It’s a festive, fun and free event for the whole family. In addition to the bonfire, roasting marshmallows and hot cocoa, we’re featuring a variety of local school musicians playing some Christmas and Chanukkah favorites. Join us as we light up the Wakeman tree with fellow Westporters to kick off the season. And…if you’re able, “Be an Angel” and bring an unwrapped gift for the Farm's Al’s Angels Holiday Toy Collection Box.

In this Fall Soup/Noodle Class with North Shutsharawan, Founder of Nit Noi, a local broth company that specializes in delicious and nutrient-rich broths and Thai soups, we will learn to create two soups (one noodle soup and one rice soup) using local organic bounty from area farms, including organic vegetables and pasture-raised animals.

Chef Annalyce will be creating a yummy patriotic-themed dessert with the kids.
Chryse is planning to run an election poll for “favorite farm animal” and the kids will vote to name our feisty rooster.
Of course, the Farm will offer all the usual fun activities, including animal feeding and petting, games, and crafts.

Nick Mancini, UConn master gardener, author of The Complete Organic Garden, and currently the guiding light at the Grace Farms community garden, will share his accumulated wisdom from decades of growing both fruits and vegetables organically. In this Pollinator Pathway Series talk, Nick will explain the fall and winter ‘must dos’ to have a successful organic veggie garden next summer.
