Whether your child has little or no experience in the kitchen, our goal is to create a sense of independence and self-reliance. We will teach culinary recipes highlighting different flavor profiles from all over the world using ingredients and spices reflecting various cultural backgrounds.

Cookie Madness: Baking with a Pro!
Join local pastry chef Adrianna Robles, owner of Good Morning Cupcake and pastry chef for Isabel et Vincent in Fairfield, for a series dedicated to making kids’ favorite cookies and bars. The emphasis will be on teaching essential baking techniques that can be replicated at home.

Fall Open Volunteer Hours Begin Aug. 27
DROP IN!
Our Fall drop in volunteer hours will be beginning on Tuesday August 27 and will continue until the farmstand closes at the end of the growing season. The official end date will be determined by Jack Frost and confirmed by us, later in the season. Usually we stop after hard frost, around November 1.
We generally work rain or shine, but not in the case of extreme weather, when we'd advise checking the Wakeman Town Farm FB page for cancellations.
Volunteers age 13 & up are welcome. Younger must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Bring your own water bottle, and garden gloves if you have them.
Tuesdays 9:00 – 11:45 a.m.
Fridays 2:30 - 4:30 p.m.
Saturdays - any time between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Harvest Fest 2019
It’s our ninth-annual farm-to-table Harvest Fest, Saturday, Sept. 14 at Wakeman Town Farm, 6-10 p.m. Harvest Fest is a magical evening, featuring seasonal fare contributed by local farmers and rock star chefs. Wine and signature cocktails will be flowing! In addition to fab food and drinks, there will be both a silent and a live auction, including a variety of exclusive culinary, garden, and travel experiences.

Family Fun Day
Family Fun Day is ON. There will be plenty of Ice Cream, Lemonade and water to help beat the heat. Melissa and Doug Toys will have water play tables for the kiddos and we’ll still have all of the crafts and games!

Beginner Indian Cooking
In this casual lunchtime class, led by Indian Home Cook Parul Kamboj, we will learn to make Navratan korma, a rich korma made with 9 gems, such as mixed veggies, dried fruits, and nuts.
Navratan korma is commonly found on the Indian restaurant menus. It makes a great side dish to include for parties or when one has guests at home. It has a unique blend of many flavors, tastes and textures.

Tea with Busy Little Bee
What could be more fun than a springtime garden party on the Farm’s Great Lawn?
Moms, dads, grandparents, aunts, uncles, sons, and daughters are all welcome at this caregiver/child event! While all are welcome, the activities at this tea party are most suitable for children ages 4 to 8.
