Join Westporter Karen Swanson, co-author of The Low Cholesterol Cookbook and Action Plan to learn how to create heart-healthy meals even picky eaters will enjoy.

Karen started researching and writing about how to lower cholesterol naturally after her doctor recommended a statin medication in 2010. Believing (well, at that point, hoping) that despite her family history she could naturally lower cholesterol with lifestyle changes, Karen began to research and write about cholesterol. In both her new book and award-winning blog,, Karen explains cholesterol issues in plain terms and shares tips for lowering cholesterol through what she calls a “lo-co” food and exercise lifestyle.

With near-daily exercise (walking counts!) and a heart-healthy approach to food, Karen has been able to stave off statin medication. She explains how in The Low Cholesterol Cookbook and Action Plan, which includes recipes by cardiac dietitian Jennifer Koslo.
