Green Day: 12:00-3:00
$5 per person, kids under 4 free
Join us at Wakeman Town Farm to celebrate Mother Earth and sustainable farming.
Watch as our friends from Alpacaboose Farm will shear our sheep, Cookies and Cream, and then local fiber artisans demonstrate how to spin and weave the wool. Local Master Bee Keeper, Jeff Schwartz, will share wisdom on saving the honey bees, and how kids can help. Learn about how to return nutrients to the soil through composting, either creating your own compost bin with advice from a UConn Master Composter, or channeling your food waste into commercial compost, via the experts at Curbside Compost. Hear from C-Tec Solar how solar energy can help you be more sustainable every day. And, of course, we'll all take part in the traditional Maypole dance with local caller Bill Fischer at 2 pm. Enjoy lunch for purchase by Moo Oink Cluck, a gastro-pub on wheels specializing in locally sourced, seasonal fare (named one of the best food trucks in Fairfield County by CTbites!).
